IBM  |  Principal Designer  |   February 2019 to Present

Lead designer for hybrid & multi-cloud solutions on the IBM/RedHat OpenShift platform.

​Vast   |  Design Director  |   2016 to 2019

Led the product design efforts at Vast as they transitioned from a big data provider to a product-focused organization in the used car and real estate industries. I managed a small team of designers and was the lead designer on mobile products.
 

• Launched a full suite of award-winning auto dealer and consumer search products 

• Develop a full design system and working framework for shipping product on an accelerated timeline.

• Built and mentored a team of user experience designers to support product launches for Vast.

 

Amazon Music   |  Art Director  |  2015 to 2016

Responsible for establishing a distinct visual design and interaction system that scaled across platforms and devices for Amazon Music services.

 

• Led the redesign of the Amazon Music Unlimited iOS release

• Designed, prototyped and delivered the patent-pending  gesture transport UI control

Samsung   |  Principal Designer  |  2012 to  2015

Design lead for Samsung's music and media services. I worked with management and engineering teams to translate business objectives into innovative solutions.

• Led the concept and design of Samsung’s Milk Music across mobile, web, TV and wearable devices

• Worked on advanced concept features for future Samsung Galaxy releases

• Lead the design of products around major sports with product releases for the NBA and MLB

 

Dell   |  Principal Designer  |  2009 to 2012

Responsible for the user experience design of Dell Android devices. My responsibilities included the definition of product features with product management and execution with engineering teams.

• Helped shipped the first 5 inch smartphone, the Dell Streak

• Led the user interface work for user experiences of Dell’s Android tablet and phones

• Led the design of for Dell’s Windows 8 Support Center and shopping concepts

 

Frog Design   |  Creative Director  |  2004 to 2009

Responsible for project leadership and creative staff management within the Austin Studio. Creative lead for major accounts including SanDisk, Motorola, and HP. Delivered conceptual and shipping software from embedded UIs, mobile interfaces, web, PC application, and TV user interfaces. 

 

• Helped revamp the user interface for all SanDisk Sansa MP3 players

• Worked with Motorola’s product team to ship the MotoNav GPS device

• Led the redesign of Expedia.com’s online shopping and checkout experience

 

Philips Design   |  Art Director  |  2001 to 2004

Creative lead of a team supporting the Consumer Electronics and Medical divisions within Philips. My responsibilities included product design support for internet and software applications. 

 

• Shipped multiple award-winning websites focused on Philips consumer electronics products

• Help to build the first US interactive design team for the Philips Design studios in North America

Designer located with the IBM PC group supporting user interface and packaging work for IBM PCs, ThinkPad laptops and IBM Servers.
